Bikers Against Diabetes “B.A.D. Ride”
Contributes $11,735.00
To Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
We are very pleased to announce The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
was the benefactor of our 3rd Annual Bikers Against Diabetes BAD Ride
contribution. As a unified effort of caring and generous Bikers, along
with families, friends and sponsors; we raised $11,735.00 this year
during our annual motorcycle festival and rally held on July 23, 2006.
We met at The Elks Lodge on Rankin Street in Rockland, Maine. We awarded
the entire proceeds to The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation to
assist in their research to find a cure for diabetes. J.D.R.F. helps
millions of children and adults who must manage diabetes daily. They
continue introducing improved developments and significant results
towards a better quality of life for those living with diabetes and
it’s serious medical complications.
Our volunteer Biker participants work diligently all year long collecting
funds for our annual July motorcycle B.A.D. RIDE. They arrive from
all corners of New England and Canada, gathering together as a group
to hand in collected donations and sign up for the popular one hundred
mile “B.A.D. RIDE” of the Maine Coast. Our top five fund
raisers were each awarded twenty- five pounds of Maine Lobster, donated
by Rockland lobstermen.
This year our winners were:
1. Dave Hubbard and THE AMERICAN LEGION RIDERS of Topsham contributing
$2,155.91
2.Tommy Jordan $1,635.00
3. Becky Butler $1,200.00
4. Heidi & Gump Cummings $600.00 and
5.Marcia Rowling $400.00!!
Congratulations for all of your generous donations!
We sincerely thank each and every one of our Bikers, Riders, fundraisers,
sponsors, business sponsors, The Elks Lodge and everyone who supported
our B.A.D. Ride. We received donations from Maine to California and
Canada. WE THANK YOU!
This year our festivities included a Pig Roast, the fabulous rock
and roll band “No Clue” and plenty of Raffles. Our first
Place Raffle for a 2 night stay donated by Sheryl and Joey Morton
of The Town and Lake Motel on beautiful Rangeley Lake, Maine was won
by Ted and Vicki Scott of Rockport, Maine.
United together, we positively knew we could make a difference. As
of today, our non-profit organization, Bikers Against Diabetes, has
raised over $ 32,735.00 for diabetes research and has raised public
awareness for diabetes education. Bikers certainly are making a difference
in the lives of thousands of children and people living daily with
diabetes.
Our next B.A.D. Ride will be held July 22, 2007 at
The Elks Lodge in Rockland, Maine.
